Know More Details about Credit Bureau and Credit Score

What exactly is a credit bureau and what does this have to do with you?  If you are in the United States, there are three major agencies that provide free credit score reports:

  • Experian – this is a credit bureau that covers the Midwest area;
  • TransUnion – covers credit score reporting in the West Coast; and
  • Equifax – is a credit bureau for East Coast residents.

Keeping a Good Credit Score Wherever You Are

Whether you need a credit score report for a mortgage, an auto loan, a credit card, a debt settlement or for a debt consolidation, the bank or the financial institution will check credit score. These financial institutions will check credit score to assess your financial standing. More information on bad credit loans on

Experian, TransUnion and Equifax, as a credit bureau, will have free credit score for people living in their area.  Some financial institutions will check a credit bureau where you are located.  For instance, if you live in the Midwest, they will check credit score reports about you from Experian.

However, there are banks or financial institutions that will check credit score with all three credit bureau agencies.  If you are applying for a house mortgage from a mortgage bank or a car loan from a dealership, these companies will most likely check credit score from the three credit bureau organizations. If you are applying for a credit card, the credit card company will not limit accessing the free credit score records of one credit bureau alone.  If you trying to get a debt settlement or a debt consolidation, it is highly likely that free credit score records will come from that just one credit bureau but from all three.

Know about Your Credit Score Beforehand

No matter how good you are at keeping track of your own financial standing, it is best to get a free credit score from each credit bureau, not just the one in your area.  Conduct your own check credit score pursuit to avoid hassles.
